This wonderful split concert features two dynamic trad duos and also is a CD release for Ryan’s new “Uilleann Piping from the ‘Boros.” Torrin Ryan became enamored with Irish traditional music at 9 years old and has devoted the past twenty-plus years to playing, recording, and teaching the uilleann pipes, simple system flute, and tin whistle across the country and abroad. Torrin taught at the Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Boston Music School for a decade, and is a regular instructor and former board member of the Northeast Uilleann Pipers Tionól. In 2009 at age 14, he was awarded an Uilleann Piping Scholarship by Na Píobairí Uilleann, Dublin IE. Torrin has been awarded over two dozen first place medals across several years of competing at the Mid-Atlantic Fleadh in New York and New Jersey, and won five Senior All-Ireland Fleadh medals across Derry, Ennis, and Tullamore, all before turning twenty. Joining Torrin will be Amy Law, an Irish fiddler and Sean-nós dancer from Southern California who has been playing music and dancing for over 20 years. She was taught by her parents, as well as renowned Seattle-based Irish fiddler Dale Russ and Portland-based Sean-nos dancer Maldon Meehan.
