Celtic Harp with Mary King (Total beginner/continuing beginner)
TOTAL BEGINNER Celtic harp group classes with instructor Mary King will start on Wednesdays, October 7, 14, 21, 28, and November 4 and 11, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Minimum of 2 students needed; maximum 3. Fee for the 6-week session is $180. Prepayment necessary. Mary teaches by oral tradition so the goal is to learn technique and tunes by ear.
CONTINUING BEGINNER Celtic harp group classes with instructor Mary King will start on Wednesdays, October 7, 14, 21, 28, and November 4 and 11, from 7:15-8:30 p.m. Minimum of 3 students needed; maximum 4. Fee for the 6-week session is $180. Prepayment necessary.
It is best if you already have a Celtic harp but if you don’t, Mary will give you ideas regarding what you are looking for, whether it’s a small lap harp, or a Celtic full size harp and where to go to buy or rent one. Mary King is a harpist who specializes in weddings, concerts, and special events. She has been playing for 15 years and studied with Terry Coe (Celtic harpist), Soranna Rus, and Robert Coletta, of Windharp. She was a recipient of a 2018–2019 grant from the Southern New England apprentice program as a Master Celtic harpist. She is a founding member of the well known R.I. traditional Celtic & Americana trio ‘The Irish in America’ with Cathy Clasper-Torch & Ed Sweeney.
