This concert continues the 2025 Take It Outside Concert Series which is sponsored by Navigant Credit Union and held in back of Blackstone River Theatre from 4-5 p.m.; chairs are provided or you can bring your own! In the event of rain in the forecast the concert moves inside. Tickets are also available at the gate.
Hiroya Tsukamoto is a one-of-a-kind composer, guitarist and singer-songwriter from Kyoto, Japan. He began playing the five-string banjo when he was thirteen, and took up the guitar shortly after. In 2000, Hiroya received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music and came to the United States. He formed his own group in Boston “INTEROCEANICO (inter-oceanic)” which consisted of unique musicians from different continents including Latin Grammy Colombian singer Marta Gomez. The group released three acclaimed records (“The Other Side of the World,” “Confluencia” and “Where the River Shines”). Hiroya has also released five solo albums. He is a two time 2nd place winner of the International Fingerstyle Guitar Championship, in 2018 and 2022. Says Acoustic Guitar Magazine, “The fingerpicking is delicate, fluid, and beautifully detailed” while the Boston Herald adds, “Hiroya Tsukamoto takes us on an impressionistic journey.” This will mark Hiroya’s third concert at Blackstone River Theatre.
